Testimonials

Our family has had the wonderful fortune of working with Travis since 2016. He has skillfully and passionately guided our son, now a junior at the University of Illinois, and our daughter, a current sophomore at Jones College Prep, through every academic milestone in high school. Travis has created an extremely effective and holistic approach to developing students’ academic and life skills for the college level and beyond. His work to build strong reading, comprehension, and academic and creative writing skills throughout high school prepares students for college-level writing and studies. He also helps students build time management and effective study skills, allowing them to achieve a healthy work/life balance in college and into adulthood. These foundational skills transcend a specific subject matter, and we are pleased to see improvement of grades in all of our children’s classes.

Engaging Travis’s services is without a doubt the best investment we made in our children’s education. But, it served a larger purpose. Our son was diagnosed with ADHD in the 3rd grade. His time in elementary and middle school was difficult and stressful for our family, as we struggled to provide him with the support and tools he needed. When he joined our family, Travis provided our son expert academic and executive functioning support, in addition to creating accountability, taking those burdens off our relationship so we could focus on other aspects of parenting. He also made himself available outside of the formal sessions to answer questions or proofread/review assignments throughout the week. Travis’s holistic approach to development, which includes teaching executive functioning, critical thinking, and self-advocacy and accountability skills, helped our son “Learn How He Learns” and apply these skills to grow and achieve the goals he sets for himself inside and outside of the classroom.

When it came time to prepare for the PSAT, ACT and SAT, Travis was there. Travis guided our family through the stressful college application and essay writing process resulting in our son having the choice between the University of Michigan and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He even provided transitional support to my son during his freshman year in college (during the Covid pandemic in 2020). The relief and confidence we have knowing Travis will support our family through the same for our daughter cannot be overstated. Travis has a calm demeanor that disarms his students so they can be open to learning from his wealth of both subject knowledge and learning mechanics. His empathetic and non-judgmental approach to teaching encourages students to reimagine what they can achieve. I highly recommend him to any family.
